MERIDA — In the Yucatecan capital this past weekend, a liter of Premium cost 17.88 pesos, while Magna reached 15.51 pesos per liter and diesel was offered at 16.39 pesos, according to data from the Commission of the Energy Regulator (CRE).
This situation further pressured the pocketbooks of gasoline consumers in Merida, as Premium lacks only 22 centavos to exceed 18 pesos per liter.
On the price of gasoline, after 10 months of deregulated pricing, José Manuel López Campos, secretary general of the Confederation of Chambers Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco), predicted that these will remain “stable” until December, when full liberalization applies.
“Under current conditions there will be no significant changes in the price of fuels, because Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex)
will continue as a cost regulator in the market, and will avoid abrupt changes,” he said.
The business leader indicated that the budget for 2018 in products and services has already been presented, so there will be no sudden changes. However, he said, competition will be a factor for importing companies, and they will have to be guided by the exchange rate.
It is recalled that Yucatan provides for the establishment of at least 250 gas stations, of which 70 percent will continue to have as a supplier Petróleos Mexicanos, so they will have to abide by its rules.
Since the release of prices at the beginning of the year, the cost of gasoline in the state has risen 50 centavos on average. In January the price of energy was quoted in Merida at 15.42 pesos per liter of Magna, 17.19 pesos for Premium and 16.49 for diesel.
In June costs went down. In Mérida these were 15.10 pesos per liter of Magna, 16.83 pesos for Premium and 15.94 pesos for diesel.
