MERIDA — On Tuesday, Merida gas stations priced a liter of Magna gasoline at $15.33 pesos, the result of greater consumption in Yucatan and reflecting an increase of 20 centavos per liter in less than two weeks, since on Monday August 21, it cost $15.10 pesos.
In this way, the forecasts of financial analysts are almost fulfilled
when they warned of an increase in gasoline prices in Mexico and
the Yucatan peninsula due to the impact of hurricane “Harvey” on the U.S. refining industry. Figures from the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) confirm that since that date, Yucatan registered an increase of at least 20 cents in the prices of fuels.
According to the prices published by CRE, between August 21 and September 4, the price of Magna gasoline found at $15.10, accumulated until Tuesday 23 centavos of increase as that fuel was quoted at $15.31 pesos a liter.
As we reported, the president of the energy commission, José Manuel López Campos, discarded both a shortage and a price increase in these products as a result of the weather phenomenon. However, analysts said there would be no such increase because the United States had a storage capacity of at least 15 days, but also recorded a movement of 40 cents, although it returned to its standard prices.
Thus, on Monday, to fill a tank with capacity of 40 liters with Magna gasoline in the state motorists needed $636.80 pesos ($36 USD). At the end of July $627, as of August 21 $628.
