Airlines cancel flights due to Hurricane Irma

MEXICO CITY — Mexican airlines flying to destinations such as Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Florida in the United States alerted passengers to cancellations and itinerary changes in the wake of Hurricane Irma, Excelsior reported.

Volaris reported that this Saturday, September 9, flights 976 and 977 between Guadalajara and Orlando and Orlando and Guadalajara will be canceled. While for Sunday, September 10, the company canceled flights 980 and 981 Mexico-Orlando, Orlando-Mexico.

The flight numbers 997 and 996 correspond to Guadalajara-Miami and Miami-Guadalajara flights. In addition to the flight numbers 994 and 995 correspond to Mexico City-Miami and Miami-Mexico City flights.

“Due to the forecast of the hurricane’s course, some flights and nearby destinations could suffer additional damages, so we recommend to be aware of possible route changes, delays and / or cancellations,” Volaris said.

The airline said customers with flights booked to and from Florida between September 6 and 10 will be able to book these same routes without additional charges during the next 90 days.

  • 4902 Cancun-Havana
  • 904 Cancun-Havana
  • 4903 Havana-Cancun
  • 2901 Havana-Cancun
  • 905 Havana-Cancun
  • 2903 Havana-Mexico
  • 3950 Mexico-Santa Clara
  • 3951 Santa Clara- Mexico.

Interjet will support all passengers who were affected by cancellations by offering the following options: grant protection on the next available flight, and cancel the charges for change and difference in rate from September 10 to 30, 2017, considering that the change must exceed the validity of the ticket.

Aeromexico corroborated that for the moment it has canceled a single flight between Mexico and Havana for Thursday, September 7.

The airline asked passengers to consult its website aeromexico.com to know any variation regarding this contingency, as well for potential changes on flights to and from Santo Domingo, Havana, Orlando and Miami.

Passengers will not be charged for change of departure date, return or flight. The measure runs from September 05 to September 09 with travel period until September 12, 2017. Tickets issued after September 9, 2017 will not be accepted.
