As founder of Best Places in the World to Retire, I have read almost 10,000 answers to questions about moving abroad from more than 500 expats on our site. In addition, my wife and I and our two dogs crossed the border into Mexico on our Mexico road trip in May of last year and toured the country in a big white van for the better part of a year, which gave us the opportunity to experience firsthand what it’s like to live in unfamiliar places and circumstances.
