Teen stabbed to death in brutal assault in downtown Cancun

Video recorded by several citizens and spread on social networks shows a 16-year-old youth being stabbed fifteen times to death by three criminals in the downtown area of Cancún on Saturday August 5.

The youth tried to escape from one of the subjects, running several meters and even trying to hail a taxi, but the other two men chased him and finally captured and killed him.

Minutes after the assault Municipal Police officers arrived on site to conduct an investigations and cordoned off the area. Red Cross paramedics came to provide medical care to the victim, however, the young man already passed away.



According to the Municipal Secretariat of Public Safety and Traffic (Smspyt), two suspects were detained in the crime scene.

One of the attackers who was identified as Carlos Alberto N, 29, resulted injured and was taken to the hospital, and shortly after the second attacker attempted to flee but was also arrested.

El Crucero” is a place well-known for being the hub of dozens of transport routes, and has been the scene of two crimes. On July 29  another man was stabbed in an assault there.
