Woman is assaulted while walking in Cancun hotel zone

CANCÚN — After receiving a call for medical assistance on Tuesday morning July 18, the Cancun Red Cross headed to help a woman who alleged she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by two unknown males. She stated that while walking in the hotel zone, a vehicle stopped her in her tracks, then two males grabbed her and pulled her inside the car.

As soon as the Federal Ministerial Police knew of this incident, they headed to the Benemérita Institution, where the woman was, to take the victim’s declaration. However, when they arrived, they were told that she had left the place as she was scared and afraid to get into details with the police. Nonetheless, she still went forward and gave a statement.

The 25-year-old victim, who is from Colombia, told the Red Cross staff that she was walking in the cycling path of the hotel zone, when suddenly two men intercepted her. The two subjects kidnapped her, sexually abused her, and then left her on one a street she could not identify.
