Playa del Carmen is the friendliest city in Latin America: Expedia

After the warning of four countries to their citizens to be careful in their visits to Quintana Roo, the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies called for measures to reverse the bad image and save that tourist region.

Despite unfortunate events that have taken place in Playa del Carmen, the travel portal Expedia declared this touristic destination to be “The Friendliest City in Latin America 2017,” according to its users. This type of recognition gives another side of the story in regards to insecurity in Playa del Carmen, as it means that although treacherous crimes have been happening, its citizens still are optimistic and treat people in a friendly and cordial way.

Among the 40 friendliest cities in Latin America, 13 Mexican cities are among them, with Playa del Carmen on the top. In an announcement, the travel agency explained that the region is characterized by the friendliness and warmth its people provide to anyone, local or tourists, as well as their landscapes, natural wonders and traditional food. They explained that these 40 cities were chosen through Expedia users’ comments, taking into account customer service, hospitality, comfort and tranquility.

Additionally, they added that Playa del Carmen offers a pleasant combination of relaxation and fun. It makes the experience of greater enjoyment as it is surrounded by archaeological zones, which offer their visitors all kinds of adventures. “From a peaceful day on its seashores, to a night out on the Fifth Avenue. Nonetheless, as if that were not enough, the attention hoteliers from Playa del Carmen provide will make you feel part of the family; almost at home”, the travel agency expressed.

In second place of the list is La Fortuna, Costa Rica, followed by Cuzco, Peru; San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, and Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo. The list also includes places like Cozumel, Nuevo Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, Xpu-Ha, Akumal, Isla Mujeres, Huatulco, Guadalajara and Villahermosa.

I just returned from Playa del Carmen and I'm definitely agreeing with this article. Every person we came across was so polite and friendly, I'm most definitely planning a return. We got an all inclusive resort thru Expedia, we stayed at Ocean Riviera Paradise. The resort is less than a year old in Playa del Carmen and was it worth it!!
