PLAYA DEL CARMEN — According to Noticaribe newspaper, the Federal Ministerial Police received a call on Thursday night July 20 reporting a man was shot to death on Fifth Avenue by two unknown subjects on a motorbike. Later on, while investigating the crime scene, authorities declared that the man had died due to a gunshot to the chest.
The event occurred on the Fifth Avenue, between Streets 10 and 12 north of Playa del Carmen. The victim, who was a jewelry salesman, was shot in the chest and was later found lying on the sidewalk. The execution took place around 8:15 pm; the motive still remains unknown.
According to authorities, the attack was carried out directly against the individual; nobody else was assaulted nor injured. Local police agents reported that they have already put into action all security codes to locate the subjects. Likewise, they mentioned that they are working in coordination with both state and federal forces.
Unfortunately, this 2017, Calle 12, where most of Playa del Carmen’s nightlife takes place, has been the location of treacherous and mortal attacks such as the ones at the Blue Parrot, and ‘La Vaquita’ nightclubs.
