Gunmen kill a vendor in the middle of the day on Fifth Avenue, reports Diario de Yucatan….
PLAYA DEL CARMEN – A cigar seller was shot Tuesday July 25, in broad daylight, on Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen, according to police sources.
The incident occurred less than a week after the killing of an alpaca seller in the same area of Fifth Avenue (“La Quinta”). This is the third attack so far this month in the tourist area and is the fourth event of the year.
According to the preliminary information, the attack was recorded at 3 pm yesterday on Fifth Avenue at 20th street.

Special operation
The state Secretary of Public Security, Rodolfo del Angel Campos, reported that a special coordination operation was deployed in the area.
During an interview in Chetumal, the Quintana Roo state official said that the police forces of the three levels of government maintain control in the emblematic avenue, after the event carried out by alleged criminal groups.
The official affirmed that “the people can be sure that the efforts to guarantee their safety and that of the visitors are permanent”.
In addition, the Secretary of Security indicated that it will be the responsibility of the corresponding authorities to carry out the investigations on the case.
Next meeting
The head of the Public Security said that after a public request made by businessmen of Solidaridad municipality, in the next few days there will be a meeting to report on the operations that are carried out, not only in this municipality but throughout the state.
Just last July 20, at 8:00 pm, an alpaca salesman was executed on Fifth Avenue, between 10th and 12th streets, a few meters from the “Blue Parrot” nightclub, where last January a shootout left several dead.
In addition, on 2 July another man died inside a restaurant on 10th street after being attacked by three people who were arrested and linked to the crime.

Reconsidering my trip to Playa. Authorities have no control.
Curious, where you live, what type of “control” do the authorities have? No crime in your neighborhood? My suggestion is to not venture out on vacation ever again. Or accept the world is not “controllable”.
