MERIDA — The State Police Investigation unit (PEI) has seized the BMW car that allegedly hit and killed Canadian expat James Lynn McClure, 70. The luxury vehicle was impounded by investigators of the Attorney General’s Office in an auto body shop in Merida last week.

The driver of the car that allegedly killed McClure June 14 is still at large.

Canadian expat James Lynn McClure and his wife Ginnie McClure have resided for several years in Chuburná Puerto, where they are appreciated by the people of the community.

Every morning, for 8 years, Lynn McClure pedalled between the ports of Chuburná and Chelem, and it was precisely on this stretch that he was hit by a black car, whose driver fled.

Six days later elements of the State Police located the car in the body shop “Euro Tech”, located in the Park of Non-Contaminant Industries. This business works with insurers, and apparently the owner of the car deceived the insurance company, who gave the “pass”.

Early in the morning, staff of the State Attorney General’s Office and the IEP were stationed at the doors of the workshop, where they received permission to enter. In this place was the black BMW car, with plates YZP-69-70, which was secured.

After several hours the elements of the FGE left, and the vehicle was towed by the Public Security Department and transferred to a safe place for investigation.

Social networks are circulating versions that the BMW reportedly belongs to a well-known marine dealer with links to people of Chinese origin.
