Shootout spreads panic in downtown Cancun

Four detainees, but number of dead and wounded possibly still uncertain.

Excélsior newspaper reported the government of Quintana Roo said that the shooting that took place on Thursday night June 15 in downtown Cancun was the result of a chase that ended with the arrest of four people.

The state authority reported that two people were injured during the clash that took place when attempting to execute a ministerial action.

The suspects who were detained during the operation were transferred to a hospital, where they are monitored by ministerial guards, while the other two were taken to the State Ministerial Police.

For its part, the Secretariat of Public Security of Quintana Roo said that, after the arrest of these four people, the situation is under control.
