“Xíimbal Kaaj” features Yucatan rapper Pat Boy and singer Yazmin Novelo, under the production of 4 Mayan Seasons Foundation and Jabu Studio.
MERIDA — After a year of work and planning, a team of Yucatan-based talent has released in different digital platforms and social networks “Xíimbal Kaaj,” a song in Mayan language featuring Yazmin Novelo and Pat Boy as united forces.
The video was produced by 4 Mayan Seasons Foundation in collaboration with Jabu Studio, an enterprise owned by Jason Buff. Buff is an American filmmaker who has lived in Merida since 2002, known for directing the short-film Nibble and creating his own website Indie Film Academy, as it was reported previously in TYT.
The video and the song are available on Spotify, Youtube, Facebook, Itunes, among others digital platforms, said Yasmin Novelo, one of the singers in the video, in an interview for NotiRASA.
“I am so moved to see that so many people are receiving it well and not only that, but it is usefull to reflect on the present presence of the Mayan people and exactly why the song is called “Xíimbal Kaaj” that in Mayan language means, ‘walking people’ or ‘people in movement'”, Novelo said.
This song invites listeners to visit the Mayan people, beaches and customs of the Peninsula, as well as motivating young people to learn the language and feel proud of their roots.
To see the video in Youtube with English subtitles you just need to click the settings button in the lower right corner of the video, select the option that says subtitles and choose English (or other language of your preference).
