AMLO, presidential-election frontrunner, to visit Merida July 2

The current frontrunner in Mexico’s 2018 presidential elections is coming to Merida Sunday July 2 for an announcement with national implications.

The Yucatan state president of the leftist Regeneration Movement Party (Morena), Mario Mex Albornoz, reported that its national leader, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, known as AMLO, will be in Merida on Sunday, July 2 at 10 a.m. in the Park of Peace on Itzaes Avenue.

He said that an agreement of the National Unity Front will be signed with all the Morenitas of the state with a view to the 2018 elections in which Lopez Obrador will be its presidential candidate.

The event is scheduled at 10:00 am in the Parque de la Paz, and good attendance is expected.

Mex Albornoz recalled that in the federal elections of 2018 Morena will only make alliances with the Labor Party (PT) as in the local elections of the same year.

The PRD was ruled out of making an alliance with Morena, the PRD will campaign with the PAN at the national level.

He added that Morena wants to make political inroads in Yucatan, where it has more than 27,000 members, as well as the mayoralty of Valladolid.

Finally, Mex Albornoz, said that his alliance in Yucatan will be with the Labor Party (PT), if not, they would go to the process alone to gain more political positions in the state.
