With the objective that family members of patients in the pediatrics area have a dignified and comfortable rest, several business chambers in Yucatan donated 54 bed-chairs to the General Regional Hospital No. 1 “Lic. Ignacio García Téllez “and 12” Lic. Benito Juárez García “of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social: IMSS).
“Following a national program launched by IMSS Foundation to raise funds with the sponsorship of private foundations and civil associations in Yucatan, we are not far behind and thanks to the goodwill of local business chambers, we managed to get the chairs and beds for the benefit of the relatives who stay with the children who have to be hospitalized, ” said the IMSS head of Affiliation Collection, Carlos Sánchez Armas Alvelais.

As mentioned before, the average length of stay of the children in the hospital is three days. For this reason, now all the pediatric areas of the state have bed-chairs for patients’ relatives, which benefits 522 thousand families a year.
In a statement it is reported that the local organizations that made the donations are: Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic; National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism; Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Yucatan, Embotelladora Bepensa, and National Chamber of the Transformation Industry.
