Cancun hotel zone rocked with fatal gunfire; 2 dead

CANCÚN, Q. Roo — In the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone, multiple gunshots were reported Sunday night resulting in two deaths and two injuries and triggering the activation of the Red Code

The events were recorded after 11 pm Sunday Nov. 27, in the nightclub area of Punta Cancún, just a few days after the start of the winter season.

According to unofficial information, a group of armed men aboard motorcycles sprayed the Mandala and the Congo Bar with gunfire, where the victims  included a security guard and the captain of waiters of the Mandala. Two other injured people were transferred in the IMSS of Coba.

It transpired that one of the deceased received seven bullet wounds. The other died in the hospital.

Agents of the different police forces implemented an operation to prevent the suspects from fleeing and monitored the zero km zones of Kukulcan Boulevard, Puerto Cancún and El Table, where all vehicles were checked.
