The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the appointment of Lizzie Cole Guerrero as the agency’s new director and chief executive.
With over 14 years of experience, Cole specialises in the development of strategies involving tourism promotion and marketing.
In her new role, she will be responsible for directing promotional strategies, market development and air connectivity to continue positioning Cancun as the number one destination in the country.
Cole most recently served as marketing director of the Riviera Maya Destination Marketing Office.
Since 2002, she has also served various positions related to tourism promotion.
Her first assignment as head of the CVB will be her participation at World Travel Market in London.
Following her appointment Cole explained “It is a great honour for me to join the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau, especially after such a successful year for tourism arrivals.
“We will continue promoting the growth of the destination’s dynamic tourism offerings and solidifying Cancun’s international presence as one of the most popular leisure destinations in the world.”
The destination received over five million visitors in 2015 and is currently on track for another record-breaking year.
Recently revealed arrival data shows a two percent increase in visitors between January and May 2016 when compared to the same period last year.
