American tourist dies in fall from Cancun hotel balcony

CANCUN — An American tourist died on Friday Sept. 2 after falling from a Cancun hotel’s third-floor balcony.

The accident happened at the Paradisus Hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone on Friday at 2:30 a.m. Staff at the hotel reported seeing two young men balcony-jumping. They warned the men to stop, however, their warnings were ignored as one of them slipped and fell.

Emergency 066 was called to the hotel at kilometer 16.5 of the hotel zone where Tourist Police found the lifeless body of a 27-year-old man. The deceased, who was a guest at the hotel, has been identified only as J.A. Junior of Texas.

Hotel managers told police that the young men were seen balcony-jumping at 1:50 a.m. and were told it was forbidden. Unfortunately, one of them slipped and fell to the ground from the third floor, dying from his injuries.
