CANCÚN — Agents of the Federal Police Gendarmerie Division recaptured Tuesday Aug. 16 Javier Mendez Lopez and / or Vandel Juárez López, alias “El Javi,” a 25-year-old native of Cancun; and Edgar Laureano Gallardo, alias “El Crimen,” a 23-year-old from Tecpan Galeana, Guerrero.

The pair were among the 11 prisoners and members of the gang “The Southerners” who escaped the night of Tuesday July 12 from the Center for Social Reinsertion (Cereso) prison in Cancun.

The Federal police unit coordinated deployment of its elements to stake out a block in the region 230, where they captured the gang members as they left a house.

With these two, a total of six prisoners have been recaptured. They join Jonathan Michael Ramirez Sanchez, alias “Maikol”, Jesus Laureano Cortez Cautiño, Victor Reynaldo Vazquez Mora and Juan Pablo Morales Lopez .
