Korea seeks to promote new investments in Yucatan

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Mexico, Chun Beeho, said the government and the business sector of his country intend to increase collaboration and investments with Yucatan, specifically in hospital infrastructure, medical equipment and industry sectors.

During a meeting with Governor Rolando Zapata Bello, the diplomat recalled the historical ties between Korea and Yucatan, and expressed confidence that the company Kogas, from his country, can finalize the project to supply the industrial and domestic sector with natural gas, and that in the future a plant could be opened in the territory.

He also stressed the importance of building the Maternity and Child Hospital promoted by the State Government in the southern part of the city, as it will strengthen the attention to these sectors with donations, and he alluded to the improving of the Friendship Korea-Mexico hospital, that later will offer some specialties.

“We are ready to contribute and work with enthusiasm and coordination to consolidate this investment as soon as possible,” the diplomat reaffirmed, accompanied by his wife, Anna Kim, and the honorary consul of that nation in Yucatan, Jose Enrique Aristi Arcila.

Meanwhile, Zapata Bello said his administration is willing to join efforts for the state to be one of the most competitive and attractive for investments, especially foreign ones, which will result in higher profits for people from Yucatan.

He said the territory of Yucatan is in a reindustrialization process with the arrival of important companies that generate thousands of jobs, and the improving of infrastructure.

“With the support of the Republic Government, the connection by rail is rehabilitated, since 2014, with a multiyear investment of six billion pesos, in addition to other actions that, combined with the society and the private initiative, we develop to make our state more attractive for companies,” he said.
