Campeche seen as among top five safest cities in Mexico

CAMPECHE — During the second quarter of 2016, the city of Campeche remained among the five safest in the country, a list that also highlights Merida, Tepic, Saltillo and Durango, the state government reported.

This information was provided by the National Comparative Perceptions of Security for Populations 18 Years and Over for Selected Cities, according to the Institute of Statistical, Geographic and Cadastral State Information (Infocam), with data from the National Urban Safety Survey INEGI 2016.

Thus, during the first quarter of this year, the city of Campeche had a percentage of 56.1% as secure and 43.2% as unsafe, while in the second quarter the percentage was 64% as secure and 36% as unsafe, which shows that the perception of safety improved by 7.9% among the populace.

The Government of Campeche indicated that one of the concerns of the state leader Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas is not only to increase security levels with the application of resources in training, equipment and infrastructure, but also increase the perception of safety among Campechanos.
