Expats looking for avenues to socialize or volunteer this summer can continue to find opportunities at the Merida English Library.
Although MEL’s summer schedule brings reduced hours, the 22-year-old Merida institution still strives to provide a haven for expats.
“June is a slower month for us, but Conversaciones con Amigos is every Monday night from 7 – 9 p.m., and we always need more English speakers during the summer months,” said Susanna McKibben, MEL’s administrator.
MEL’s summer schedule is Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Wednesday featuring extra hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library is also open Monday evening 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. for Conversaciones con Amigos.
“Storytime continues through the summer every Saturday at 10 a.m., and the last Wednesday of the month our Wednesday for Writers group meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,” she said. “On July 14th instead of our regular wine tasting we are going to do a craft beer tasting, details TBA.”
