Under the “International Recycling Day”, the Conservation and Sustainable Development Promotion Agency of Campeche State  (Promotora para la Conservación y el Desarrollo Sustebtable del Estado de Campeche), administrator of Ximbal Recreational Park (Parque Recreativo Ximbal), launched the “Recycle PET” program, through which it seeks to involve residents with the environmental conservation culture.

The CEO of the Agency, Victor Arturo Pinelo Herrera, in company of Grijalva Valley University’s (UVG) Dean Rosalía del Carmen Castillo Mendez, said “this is a special day for the Agency and Ximbal Park’s personnel, because these “Recycling Day” activities are designed to foster the conservation, care, and sustainable development for a better future”.

He noted that this program will allow adults, youth, and children, to raise awareness of the importance of practicing the three “R’s” (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce) and give an opportunity to create a better environment.

In the meantime, he launched a broad invitation to all residents to join this action, specially those who go daily to the park, in order to collaborate and bring PET containers, since the facilities in the park will be a permanent collection center.

He recalled that it is often easier to throw away or get rid of this type of material by leaving it on the street, without measuring the damage it can cause.

At the event, preschool students of Praxis Elementary School, and students of the UVG Campeche campus and the Campeche Technical Computing Studies Center, made their donation to the campaign.
