68 year-old man hit by truck in downtown Merida

On Thursday February 18th, around 12 noon, a speeding truck ran over a 68 year old man, in Merida’s historic center. The pedestrian did not present serious injuries.

According to data collected at the scene of the accident, the driver of the vehicle, a Nissan cargo truck, was traveling from east to west on Calle 65 when suddenly, the pedestrian crossed the street at an inconvenient time and was hit by the moving vehicle.

After the accident happened in front of the Eulogio Rosado park, paramedics arrived at the site of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) to assess the injured and diagnosed only contusions, none serious.

The injured man asked not to be rushed to the hospital and reached an agreement with the driver of the truck.
