Los Zetas cartel No. 2 man is arrested in Nuevo Laredo

NUEVO LAREDO, Tamaulipas — The No. 2 man at the criminal organization known as Los Zetas was arrested in the border city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas on Tuesday, January 26th.

An elite group of Navy personnel in coordination with several other federal agencies captured Eleazar “El Chelelo” Medinas Rojas and three other people during a routine inspection of a vehicle.

The inspection revealed 4 high-caliber weapons and a bag with 1 kilogram of cocaine in addition to the members of Los Zetas.

Medina Rojas was released from prison last year after serving an eight-year sentence and resumed his life of crime, becoming second in command of the drug cartel.
