Cancun is definitely the best-known beach destination of Mexico; it gained enormous popularity as the go-to place for spring breakers during the 90’s and early 00’s; but today that has shifted quite a bit. Those students who came to party, enjoy the amazing beaches and fell in love with Cancun, today visit the destination with their families, as there are number of options to enjoy for both children and adults.

Hotels and resorts
The range of hotels in Cancun is vast and varied, from all-inclusive to weekly rentals; there are options for every family and every budget. The city’s Hotel Zone features over 30 thousand hotel rooms and there are also incredible apartments for weekly rental right by the beach or on the side of the lagoon.
A great thing is that most family hotels have spaces designed for the children, where they will have the best time ever. As well as activities during the day and afternoon that will keep them entertained and happy throughout the vacations.
Water and beach activities
As a beach destination the water activities are endless and perfect for the whole family; some of the activities available include: snorkeling, kayaking, jet skiing, riding the banana, fishing, scuba diving, among others.
Another great activity to share with the children is to play in the sand, build castles, bury dad or write messages in the sand. Fortunately the sand in Cancun is fine, white and great for this type of activities; and how about playing with a ball, Frisbee or any other beach toy, that’s a great bonding time with the kids.
Cancun has incredible gastronomic options, from traditional Mexican cuisine to international restaurants; you will find alternatives for every taste and budget. There are many restaurants in the Hotel Zone, but if you’d like to try something authentic, try hitting downtown and going to a real Mexican food restaurant.
There’s a great amount of stores in Cancun, from international labels to handcrafts, most of the stores are located in shopping malls. But if you’re looking for handcrafts it is better to go downtown to Market 28 where to find a good diversity of handcrafted goods.
These are just some of the things that make Cancun the perfect family destination, no wonder why it is chosen by many as their vacation spot in Mexico. The city has a lot to offer, it’s just waiting for you and your family to come and discover everything that is in store for you.
