Yucatecan delegation meets with Italian entrepreneurs in Milan

Italian businessmen met with the Yucatán State Government delegation visiting the city of Milan to promote agreements that will benefit both regions. Competitive advantages of investing in Yucatan were showcased through a related seminar.

Firms from different sectors participated in this event, companies dedicated to the generation of renewable energy, plastics for the automotive and food industry, hotels, specialized consulting and potential importers of fishery products and construction materials manufacturers.

As a result of this meeting, Tegma, a company specializing in biodiesel, signed a letter of intent to explore the best conditions for them to invest in the state, while other companies expressed their interest in continuing business approaches. The “ProMéxico” office in Milan, headed by director Oscar Camacho, will be in charge of supporting these initiatives.

Both Yucatecan and Italian businessmen agreed that the existing air connectivity in the state, and other major projects such as the Modelo Brewery, along with ecosystem conservation research and the high quality of life, are just a few examples of investment opportunities in the state territory.

In the framework of the Yucatan participation as part of the Mexico Pavilion at Expo 2015 Milan, the competitive advantages of state were also presented to directors of “France Business”, an economic promotion agency of the Government of France.

In addition, with the support of the consul of Mexico in Milan, Marisela Morales, concrete academic collaboration schemes were achieved, that will allow student exchanges, and teachers and researchers internships.

Such strategies will also help Yucatecan students who want to expand their academic training in that nation, providing them with the opportunity to attend higher education institutions such as the University of Milan-Bicocca, the Free Language and Communication Design Center, the Polytechnic Institute and the European School of Design.

Also, the linking of academic research teams was achieved. These teams will be working in the research of diverse issues, such as Alzheimer’s disease, materials physics, archeology and anthropology, cultural tourism, as well as industrial and fashion design.

Milan university authorities recognized and appreciated the Yucatán research and technological development system, as well as the Science and Technology Park Facility that make Yucatan a hub of high-level educational services.

The seminar was led by the head of the Office of the Governor, Eric Rubio Barthell, and State Education Secretary, Raul Godoy Montañez.
