Starting December 2015, Italian airline Blue Panorama will operate a new route from Merida to Rome, via Havana, with a special rate of $14,000 pesos ($845 USD), this was announced by the State Secretary of Tourism Promotion, Saul Ancona Salazar.
The announcement was made during the Expo Milan 2015, and Ancona Salazar said that with this flight, the capital of Italy will have direct link with Mexico once again, which was not achieved for several years.
The representative of the Yucatan tourism sector said that the consolidation of this new air route reaffirms the commitment of Governor Rolando Zapata Bello to boost the state economy, promote more investment, and it is a cleat sign of the great interest of Italians to visit Mexico and, in particular, the Yucatan Peninsula.
