-Editorial for The Yucatan Times-
“Trump personifies everything the rest of the world despises about America: casual racism, crass materialism, relentless self-aggrandizement, vulgarity on an epic scale.” Paul Thomas from the “New Zealand Herald”
It has come to a point that many Americans as well as foreigners are fed up with this two faced bigot that contributes to create a horrible image of the United States and its people, why? Because of his dreadful attributes. The man is impetuous, egotistical, selfish, and dogmatic. Major networks want him since he brings ratings to them, but ratings that are rubbish like the one Morton Downy Jr. or Jerry Springer had. Trump portrays the “American uniqueness” and acclaims himself… He is “his own best example” but even worst, due to his media coverage and exposure, the world sees him as a spokesman of the people of the United States of America, which is absolutely unfair. He has no understanding or appreciation for his own people, fellow countrymen and women; he is petulant, a bully that feuds over unimportant matters and when it comes to judgments and denigration of others, he can throw it out in the open but like a good coward he can’t take it. Do you want a better example? Donald Trump in one the most despotic manners, kicked out of his campaign event Jorge Ramos, a professional award winning journalist from Univision. Trump´s security goon physically escorted Ramos out of the rally after he tried repeatedly to ask Trump questions about immigration issues. -“Go back to Univision,”- Trump yelled at the journalist as he continued to sprinkle him with questions. Pressured by reporters asking about Ramos’ removal from the hall Trump allowed him back into the event, for another round of exchanging arguments on immigration. -“No human being is illegal”- Ramos can be heard saying in the video of the altercation.
Amongst Ramos’ questions for Trump: How do you plan to build a wall along the border? Trump had a simple answer for that, he’s “a builder.” -“That’s easy. I build buildings … Can I tell you what’s more complicated? What’s more complicated is building a building that’s 94 stories tall”- Trump clarified.
Then Ramos inquired on how he planned to deport the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, Trump´s response was: -“In a very humane fashion.”-
Trump speaks in magnification, issuing grand pronouncements with theatrical gestures and an over exaggerated body language. Unfortunately there are people out there impressed with him. A successful business man, with dream-like mansions, private jets, his own tv show, living life at its finest with luxury, yachts, private airplanes and surrounds himself with gorgeous women, not afraid to speak his mind and willing to do what others dare not and in the words of BJ Gallager, bestselling author and editorialist for the Huffington Post: -“He is a breath of fresh air. He’s downright refreshing after all the empty platitudes of the other Republicans”.-
I might not be in agreement with Mrs. Gallager´s point of view, but where our opinion converges is in one point: Trump is a cartoon, a caricature of the “Ugly American”… that one person we all know that is loud-mouthed, arrogant moron who acclaims him/herself just for being an American! Always with an opinion, an unwanted assessment and most of the times knowing NOTHING about the subject, just like… You guessed right: Donald Trump.
Can you imagine the repercussions if a man like Trump wins the presidency of one the most powerful countries in the world? Donald Trump is a danger to his own country, the greatest threat to Americans!
