Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reported that the gas and oil leak that began at 1:35 p.m. today in the Akal-H platform in the Bay of Campeche is under control.
“The contingency in the Akal-H platform is totally controlled. The inspection to assess the conditions of the installation have started,” expressed Pemex on its Twitter account.
In a press release, the oil company reiterated that the incident left no victims.

He said that the three workers who performed a routine inspection when the leaks were detected had been retired from the area and the platform secured. The platform is an automated installation that houses no people.
Four fire boats arrived at the area and controlled the flames on the platform, according to Pemex.
Pemex added that it will carry out an analysis to determine the cause of the contingency.
