Tulum, under the Spotlight at European International Tourism Fair

Tulum is now positioned as a World Class alternative Tourism destination, combining ecology, rural and adventure tourism.

TULUM, Q. Roo.- Tulum was under the spotlight in Europe as an alternative tourism destination. Tour operators and travel agencies from different parts of the world requested a great amount of information during the International Fair of Tourism (Fitur) 2015.

According to Tulum’s Municipal Director of Tourism, Jorge Portilla Manica, there was a good outcome during their presence in the Fitur (Feria Internacional de Turismo), that took place the last week of January 2015 in Madrid, Spain.

The destination had good acceptance, especially our new product called “Circuito Maya” that includes attractions such as Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Mahahual and the area of southern Quintana Roo.

Cultural, adventure and eco archeological tourism was promoted as a fundamental part of Tulum. Traditional resorts and charming boutique hotels can be found there, and we are focusing on travelers looking for direct contact with nature” Said Portilla Manica.

A wide variety of activities

Tulum is now positioned as an “alternative tourism” destination, divided in 3 categories:

  • Ecotourism
  • Adventure tourism
  • Rural tourism

A great variety of recreational activities are offered within each category.

We were successful at the Fitur 2015 in Madrid, because Tulum offers an infinity of features such as cenotes, archaeology and Mayan towns, besides its beautiful beaches” Portilla Manica concluded.
