On Thursday January 29th, North American musician Steve Katz will present a concert at the FORO CINE COLÓN in Mérida, Yucatán. (Please note that the previously announced venue, the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Theater on Calle 60 is no longer available due to the University strike.)
As founder of the legendary rock group Blood, Sweat and Tears, member of the original Blues Project, music producer and manager of several record labels, Steve has many stories and anecdotes to share, promising to entertain the audience with a colorful evening of story and song from his vast musical biography.
This concert is organized to raise funds for EdúcaTE Yucatán A.C, a non-profit organization based in Cholul that thrives to eliminate the barriers for children and young people to receive an education and aims its efforts towards promoting the children´s integral development. Through EdúcaTE Yucatán A.C, this year 56 Primary, Secondary and High School students are supported by a sponsor to cover the cost of school attendance. Besides, EdúcaTE has successfully implemented tutoring programs for all school levels to help underprivileged kids comply with school requirements. EdúcaTE´s computing center allows higher grade students do their homework and access the internet for study and investigation. EdúcaTE also offers English and Maya classes for the population of Cholul, as well as planning a new sports, arts and crafts program for adolescents this year.
