Governor Rolando Zapata Bello is attending the 11th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (Cismef) 2014 in the Guangzhou province located in the south east of the People’s Republic of China. Rolando Zapata’s presence in this event, comes as a result of the momentum that has been given to the business sector in the Yucatan Peninsula.
The President of the National Institute of Entrepreneurship (Instituto Nacional de Empresarios “Inadem”), Enrique Jacob Rocha, made a formal invitation to the Governor to attend the forum, where 177 Mexican companies will be present, incuding 14 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the state of Yucatan.
While accepting the invitation from Jacob Rocha, the Governor said the Cismef represents the enabling framework for negotiations with Chinese entrepreneurs, in order to make an adequate and targeted promotion of the Yucatán in that nation.
Zapata Bello declared the trip opens a window of opportunity that could serve as a magnet for foreign investors and at the same time, provides the Yucatecan enterpreneurs the opportunity to establish businesses in China, and this could trigger the creation of jobs for the benefit of the people of Yucatan and their families.
Rolando Zapata said, that his visit responds to the proposal of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, who was in the Yucatán in June 2013. At that time, the Asian president expressed interest in establishing closer relations with Mexico, and particularly with the state of Yucatán.
Zapata Bello wants to establish a cooperation agreement between the Yucatán and the People’s Republic of China, which will benefit the economy of the State by increasing the Foreign Direct Investment.
The official visit by the Governor of Yucatan Rolando Zapata Bello is also aimed at creating links and relationships with the Hong Kong Science Park and the Yucatan Science Park, this is a part of Zapata’s official agenda.
Finally, one of the most important issues is to generate a greater flow of tourists between the country of China and the Yucatan Peninsula; as well as a greater commercial and cultural exchange between these two regions.
