The School of Engineering of the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) is recognized throughout the country as higher education institution. Great professionals have graduated from this campus. Besides, there are certain indicators that endorse the quality of their academic programs, and UADY School of Engineering has the recognition of the Civil and Physical Engineering European community.

On the other hand, Grupo Próser is a company focused on the Construction Industry, and positioned aa a leader in the integral execution of construction projects and roadways with works executed in more than 23 States of the Mexican Republic.

Since 2002 Próser has an agreement with the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) in which an award is given to the student with best average grades of the Civil Engineering degree.

And this year the Próser Prize 2018 went to Gaspar Alberto Alcocer Gómez from Valladolid. Gaspar is also the first winner to receive the prize at Constructora Proser, on August 29, the young student received the prize (a centenario and a $ 25,000 pesos check).

“I’m really grateful to my family, to God and to my colleagues because one when you go to college, you’re never alone,” said the young man.

Carlos Ancona Riestra, director of Constructora Proser, called Gaspar on the phone to let him know that he was the winner.

“I asked him: Are you currently working? And he said: ‘Yes sir, I work at Constructora Proser’. It was a surprise because it is the first time that the winner of the Próser Prize, actually works in Proser, there have been other wiiners laboring with us, but they were integrated to the working team after they won the prize “, Ancona said.

Gaspar Alberto Alcocer Gómez stated that when he went to colllege, his goal was to graduate. That ever since he was in elementary school he always wanted to dedicate to the construction of bridges and roads.”

Questioned about the value of being the best student of his class, Gaspar pointed out that it is only a parameter for one’s abilities and aptitudes. “I think that good grades do not provide you with anything for the professional life; a grade is an evaluation of a teacher towards your performance, and the fact of getting good grades, tells you that you are doing things right, but afterwards you have to implement your knowledge in the professional field.”
