The general director of the Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO), Alicia Ricalde Magaña, reported that for the second consecutive year, Cozumel was recognized as the leading cruise port in Mexico and South America, in the twenty-fifth installment of the World Travel Awards.

The official explained that the recognition once again granted to the island of Cozumel, tourist destination that from January to August this year received 865 cruises with a total of 2,861,237 passengers, reaffirms its leadership in the cruise industry in Mexico and the region.

In 2017, the port of Cozumel received 1,245 cruises for a total of 4,103,787 passengers.
