The new ecological bus is causing a big sensation as it goes around the White City! Most of all because it works with clean natural gas and its structure is different from other public transport units.
In an interview with one of the Eco Bus drivers, he said that this unit, features air conditioning, and has capacity for 80 people: 40 sitting down and 40 more standing up, since it is longer than other buses, and has enough room so passengers are not crammed and crushed inside.
“The reaction of the public has been very positive, now let’s see if they are willing to pay 13 pesos per ride”, the driver said.
This vehicle has been circulating for two weeks around Merida already along with two others of the same type. The driver mentioned that the company Minis 2000, will present a proposal to the next governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal, of using only natural gas pawoered buses in Mérida.
Regarding mobility within the Historic Center of Mérida, he indicated that although the bus is a bit big, it does not affect the traffic.
On the other hand, the tank of the bus is filled with 200 liters. And the gas station is located in Uman; the driver mentioned that Natural Gas is different from the LP Gas, less dangerous and volatile.
The price of diesel is at 19.80 per liter and the price of a liter of natural gas is only nine pesos, so there would be more savings and no pollution or damage to the environment.
“The truck has four internal cameras, one of reverse, because “for us it is very difficult to see what’s behind us when we are backing down”; ergonomic seats and advanced technology that benefits the user”, the driver concluded.
