On April 17, President Enrique Peña Nieto announced that the development bank already has a 50-billion-peso financing pool ready for companies interested in promoting the productive activities of the seven Special Economic Zones (ZEE) decreed by the federal government.

When signing the presidential declaration of the Campeche and Tabasco Special Economic Zone, the president highlighted that one of the great attractions of these zones is the “fiscal package” in which the companies that settle there have an exemption in Income Tax (ISR) for the next 10 years, among other benefits.

Peña Nieto signed the last declaration of the seven Special Economic Zones here, a program that means a radical paradigm shift in the development of the chosen areas, both because of its lag, but above all because of its economic potential.

In the event, the president, together with the governors of Campeche, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, and Tabasco, Arturo Nuñez, unveiled a plate during the inauguration ceremony of the Hobomó Aqueduct and the delivery of the modernization works of the Seybaplaya Port.

Previously, in his speech, the general director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), Roberto Ramírez de la Parra, said that with the delivery of the Habomó Aqueduct, fulfills the commitments assumed in his electoral campaign more than six years ago.

He said that this aqueduct is the second part of a water project for the state of Campeche, since eight months ago the mega-irrigation was delivered, benefiting more than 230,000 inhabitants in the municipalities of Campeche capital and San Francisco, where almost 60 percent of the state’s population is located.

On the other hand, the federal authority for the development of the Special Economic Zones (ZEE), Gerardo Gutiérrez Candiani, stressed the importance of this presidential declaration.

He pointed out that in recent years poverty levels have fallen in almost the entire country, with the exception of the southeast states, including Campeche and Tabasco. For this reason, he added, the importance of this presidential declaration, since it will be an asset of transformation in the region during the following 40 years, with important investments in production and the creation of jobs.
