Yucatan’s Xmatkuil Fair hums to a close with record crowd

This year’s fair created an economic impact for the vendors and entrepreneurs of more than $500 million pesos…

MERIDA – “We surpassed the expectations of this year, which were to exceed two million visitors,” said Juan José Abraham Achach, president of the Institute Promoter of State Fairs, when referring to the Yucatan 2017 Fair that concluded in Xmatkuil fairgrounds this Sunday Dec. 3rd.

The official stressed that this year the major musical events, exhibitions of cattle and sheep, among other attractions, were widely enjoyed by the people, which led to a large influx of visitors.

He also stressed that another innovative event that was a success among the strollers was the “Fiesta del Globo”, which brought four hot-air balloons for exhibition.

According to the organizer, other places and attractions featured in this edition were the free shows at the Teatro del Pueblo, the Entertainment Center, the show area with Las Vegas Magic Show, Forever Circus, Adventure in the galaxies, Circus Adventure and the Palenque.

He also stressed that this year the security and order were positive. He said that there were only two minor incidents within the fair.

Likewise, he said that the economic spill of the fair exceeded $530 million pesos for all the activities that were carried out, a figure that is 10% higher than last year.

Carlos Cárdenas Cáceres, director of the Canirac’s Committee of Xmatkuil, said that this year was very encouraging in the business sector within the Fair.”We are very satisfied with the results,” he added.

The official reported that in the business sector there was an economic spill of more than $15 million pesos at the Yucatan Fair 2017, where there were eight new brands in the 33 restaurants that participate annually. “It was an increase of over 3% compared to last year.”

Sunday Dec. 3rd they closed with more than 300 thousand visitors in the restaurant area.
