This year the Oktoberfest Merida will be held at the Rogers Sports Unit from Oct. 20th to 22nd….
MERIDA — The main German festival in Merida is already preparing the best of its gastronomy, culture and — last but not least — beers for beer lovers.
The Oktoberfest is considered one of the largest popular German festivals in the world. The origin of the first Oktoberfest dates back to 1810. In that year the wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria was celebrated in Germany with Princess Theresa of Saxe-Altenburg.
On that occasion the guests were the own citizens of Munich and the nuptial celebrations lasted several days in the Theresienwiese, also known like Wies’n, an open field near to the city.

After the success of the first celebration it was decided to continue annually with this celebration, actually in 1910 the centenary of the Oktoberfest was celebrated.
In Mérida the celebration of the Oktoberfest began about 14 years ago with the aim of promoting German culture in a completely family-oriented environment. During the event you will have the opportunity to know much of the German tradition, gastronomy, culture, music, traditional dancing and even information on the German language.
On this occasion the Oktoberfest will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 from 6 pm to 12 pm, Saturday Oct. 21 from 12 pm to 12 am and Sunday from 12 pm to 8 pm at Rogers Sports Unit.
Tickets can be purchased at www.ticket2go.mx and at authorized establishments: La Bierhaus Centro y Col. México, Instituto Kresse, Montejo y Los Pinos branches, and Shirp Delicatessen, Col. García Ginerés.
Ticket prices are $60 pesos, general entrance in pre-sale which concludes on Sunday Oct. 15, from Oct. 16 on it will be $70 pesos. Children under 15 years-old have free admission.
