Cancun teen swimmer takes gold in Miami

CANCÚN – The Cancun athlete set a new record for the 50 meters backstroke, imposed by herself in May 2017 at the National Olympiad, during the competition that took place at the Senior Championships Coral Springs in the Miami area, adding a new achievement to her career.

Her previous record time was 29.56 seconds, while the new one is an astonishing 29.10, registered last weekend during the qualifying rounds.

In the final contest, Sansores de la Fuente conquered the gold medal with a time of 29.95 seconds. Besides,  her success was glorious, since in the 100 meters backstrocke, she also won the gold medal with a time of 1:05.47.

She also qualified for the 50 meters butterfly finals, in which she came in fourth place with a time of 28.89 seconds, surpassed by Kyla Valls (27.89), Fabiana Pesce (28.23) and Victoria Fonville (28.43), respectively.

She finished the 50 meters freestyle with a time of with 27.26 seconds, and she was 15th in the 100 meters freestyle, but as in the previous competition, she finished seventh place in her category (17-18 years) with a time of 1:01.19.

Andrea’s next challenge will be the Junior World Swimming Championships, to be held in Indianapolis, August 23-28.
