YUCATÁN — Very hot temperatures up to 102 degrees Fahrenheit (39 degrees Celsius) are expected this week for the whole Yucatan Peninsula, according to the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), through the Regional Hydrometeorological Center of Merida (CHRM) from the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
Although it does not rule out the presence of showers in the afternoons, CONAGUA clarified that according to the forecasts, between Tuesday and Thursday it is foreseen a maximum of 34 to 38 degrees Celsius in Yucatán; 36 to 39 degrees Celsius in Campeche, and between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius in Quintana Roo.

The minimum temperatures for the three states would range between 22ºC and 26ºC over the next few days. However, for today [Tuesday 4], a low-pressure area, as well as the entrance of a tropical maritime air from the Caribbean Sea, will cause showers in most parts of Yucatan; Campeche, and Quintana Roo. Likewise, a tropical wave is expected to form on the center of the Caribbean Sea.
On Wednesday, a trough will extend over the “Sonda de Campeche”, probably interacting with a new forthcoming storm, which would generate downpours on the eastern and southern parts of Yucatan; center and southwest of Campeche, and the south of Quintana Roo. For Thursday, showers and drizzles are expected in the Peninsula due to the arrival of tropical maritime air.
