Abandoned fetus found among garbage in Merida

Authorities declare that those responsible would receive several years in prison.

MERIDA — The State Police has already begun the investigation to find those who left a fetus among the garbage in the colony Máximo Ancona, in the east of Merida. Although the researchers accepted that to locate those responsible is complicated, but not impossible.

It was indicated that there are some clues that can lead to finding who could be the possible culprits, based on the field works that are realized in the place, to locate and prosecute those who were involved. They could receive several years in prison, as a felony.

The necropsy revealed that it is a female fetus of 39 weeks of gestation, meaning it was already fully formed. The autopsy found evidences of suffering by the fetus before death, also no deformations in the body were found.

Several neighbors were interviewed with the purpose of finding the mother, although forensic and criminalist work will be the key to the investigation.

Police are checking if there are any traces or fluids that could lead to the mother. It is also consulted in hospitals if a woman who had medical control of her pregnancy finally did not attend the delivery, or entered by bleeding or abortion.

The fetus is in the Forensic Medical Service, it will wait there three regulatory months to proceed to the burial in the State common grave.
