The Agency for Security, Energy and Environment (ASEA) and the Government of the State of Yucatan will work in a coordinated way to carry out actions in the area of environmental protection in the state, relating to the hydrocarbons sector.

This work started from the coordination agreement signed recently by the Secretary of Urban Development and Environment (Seduma), Eduardo Batllori Sampedro, and the Executive Director of ASEA, Carlos de Regules.

The representative of the Agency expressed his congratulations on this agreement, as it means support to provide legal certainty to the regulated in that segment in the management and procedure of its procedures, as well as in inspection work.

“Yucatan is the spearhead of this mechanism of institutional and state coordination; This agreement is the first of several to be signed with other states of the country, such as Sinaloa, Tabasco, Chihuahua, among others,” he said.

For his part, the Yucatecan official mentioned that the Yucatán Government is enthusiastic about this act, which represents a show of confidence in the territory, given the growth of its oil and natural gas storage industry.

With the agreement, work will be carried out on management and inspection issues, through the qualification of public servants for the notification, execution and action inherent in the subject, the unique environmental license, records of generators of hazardous waste and special management, as well as the elaboration of records on facts and circumstances of the verifications, in public sale of petroleum products.

In this sense, Seduma personnel will be trained by ASEA to carry out management activities, such as the reception of documents and file integration, or inspection, as well as the execution of technical opinions.

This alliance guarantees the sum of efforts between both parties to achieve goals and strategies dedicated to improving the performance of the hydrocarbon sector and, thus, carry out tasks and actions for the protection of the environment in the energy sector.
