COZUMEL — The natural beauties of the island of Cozumel and the diving segment received an important boost in Germany with the short film “Cozumel, a paradise in the Mayan Caribbean”, said the head of the State Secretariat of Tourism, Marisol Vanegas Perez.

In a statement, she said that the production was presented at the Travel Adventure Pavilion of the Berlin Convention Center, and that as part of the promotion, the material will be displayed on the airplanes of the airline Evelop! on its Madrid-Cancun flights.
The 43 minute Spanish-language film with English, German and Italian subtitles shows the natural wealth and cultural wonders of the island of Cozumel and the importance of the diving sector.
Vanegas Pérez commented that the launch of the video was made within the framework of the Berlin Tourism Fair, which is considered the most important business platform of the global tourism offer.
The film was directed by Karlos Simon, the diver, filmmaker and photographer specialized in underwater adventure. The production was managed by Gilda Sigie, who is a producer of events such as the Cozumel Fest and Riviera Maya Sustainable Tourism Expo. Pedro Joaquín Delbouis, entrepreneur and promoter of the island of Cozumel, served as executive producer.
Vanegas Pérez highlighted that “Cozumel, a paradise in the Mayan Caribbean”, has already successfully toured other tourism fairs in Europe such as London and Madrid; the film was also nominated for awards such as the Underwater Festival of San Sebastián, Spain; CayFilm Festival in Cayman Islands, and Salento International Fim Festival, Italy.
The film was also showed at the Kuala Lumpur ECO Film Festival, Malacia and Canes Corporate Awards for Media and Television, France, and will now be projected onto aircraft screens.
During the event — and after the images that promote diving on the island of Cozumel — the head of the Secretariat of Tourism of Quintana Roo, Marisol Vanegas, urged those present to participate in the Cozumel Scuba Fest to be held from 20 to 25 June, in Cozumel, the heart of the Mexican Caribbean.
