The exchange of license plates will start next Monday Jan. 9 and will conclude on June 30, according to the calendar published in the Official Gazette of the Yucatan state government.
At the beginning of this period, the cancellation of penalties, surcharges, endorsements and arrears will come into force, only to proceed with the process of reissuing plates for the vehicles.
The published decree states that the benefits of cancellations will be for those who make the plate exchange from January 9 to June 30 at the latest; After that period these fiscal incentives will no longer be in force.
To process the exchange of plates you need to present in original and copy the invoice of the vehicle, circulation card, owner identification and proof of domicile. You must also submit vehicle insurance documents.
A vehicle operator’s voter’s credential, passport, driver’s license, professional card, military card, recent letter of no criminal record, school credential with registration or a record of studies will be accepted as identification.
Foreigners must prove the validity of their legal stay in the country.
Proof of residence can be receipts of electricity, water, telephone, payment of the property, statement of account, copies of the contract of the dwelling or proof of domicile.

If another person performs the diligence, this person must present a power of attorney in which the owner of the vehicle authorizes him to do so.
The procedures will be carried out in the modules that will be installed in the former Juarez penitentiary, the Convention Center Siglo XXI, Kukulcan Sports Unit, the Transport Department and the Service Center, near the convention center.

Residents of the interior of the state do not have to travel to Merida to do these procedures, as they can do so in the modules that will operate in Valladolid, Progreso, Ticul and Tizimín.
The hours of attention will be from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In all the modules the plate exchange can only be made by owners whose vehicles are in the vehicle register and their plates are from 2009.

January registrations
According to the state calendar, this month corresponds to make the process to the owners of vehicles whose current plates are from the YZA to the H, with numbers from 10-00 to 99-99.
The rest of the year
In February they will be the owners of vehicles with plates of the YZJ to the S, in March will apply to those of the YZT to the ZAA, in April those of the ZAB to the J, in May those of the ZAK to the ZAT and in June it will be for those of the ZAU to the ZBA.
