CANCUN, Q. Roo — A Cancun lawyer with two sons involved in drug trafficking activities was executed by multiple gunshots while he parked his car outside his home in a residential area on Thursday April 21.

Early versions indicated that the victim was identified preliminarily as Rodolfo Arreola Sanchez, a 63-year-old native of Coahuila, who allegedly operated as a narco-lawyer in Cancun.

This execution was reported to police around 8:20 pm Thursday in Supermanzana 45, block 26 of Calle Uruapan near Del Sol Avenue, where the victim was coming to his home in a black BMW 330 CI type.

When Arreola was about to get out of the car, a hit man stood in front of the vehicle and shot multiple times through the windshield. The shells hit the face and chest of the lawyer who died in the driver’s seat.

Early versions indicated that Rodolfo Arreola was the father of two subjects allegedly involved in drug trafficking activities. One of these, Rodrigo Arreola Sanchez, alias “Nambo”, was murdered just last month in the parking lot of a supermarket in Supermanzana 21.

Another son, also named Rodolfo Arreola, was arrested in April 2015, in connection with an alleged role as accountant for the Gulf Cartel. At the time of arrest, Arreola Jr. was in possession of more than a million pesos in cash, doses of drugs and weapons.

Thursday’s murder occurred shortly before eight p.m. at the confluence of Uruapan Street with Avenida del Sol.

The victim’s wife, named Olivia Lopez Valenzuela, 58, was inside the home when she heard the shots, but did not immediately report them out of fear, so she could not see anything.

When she finally came out, she found her husband shot dead by multiple gunshots.

Officials from the Medical Examiner (Semefo) and the Attorney General of Quintana Roo responded to the scene to conduct preliminary investigations, collect evidence and remove the body.

This is almost exactly the way Acapulco began it decent into the lawlessness. There’s a lot of blame to go around but the lions share goes to the political class. Where are the patriots?
