Xcaret in Cancun and the Riviera Maya was recently recognized as the best international theme park and the best water park. The popular eco park won the 2016 Travvy Award held in New York City.
For the category of Best International Theme Park Xcaret reached the finals along with Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan. In the category of Best Overall Water Park , Xcaret shared the final stage with Blue Diamonds Resorts and Dolphin Discovery.
The awards were received by Rodrigo Motavelasco Loera, Business Development Manager for Experience Xcaret. For the Xcaret Park, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, the achievement is highly satisfactory as it reflects the consistency of its efforts to be the most important destination for all segments of the market that visit the Riviera Maya each year.
Travvy 2016 Awards, presented by TravAlliance Media, recognize the highest standards of excellence in today’s tourism industry.

What are the Travvy Awards?
Travvy Award recipients are considered to be the best in travel based on a rigorous 3 step selection process. Last year the entry period was extended and entries were accepted from April 1 – August 21, 2015. Once all entries were submitted, from July until October, travel agents chose who they believe is the best of the best in each category.
Finalists from each category were chosen and announced publicly in October. An award-winning editorial team then determined the final two winners in each category. All winners were announced LIVE at the 2016 Travvy Awards Gala, that took place once again in New York City, on January 2016.
What do winners get?
Travvy Award winners are featured and profiled in a special section in March issues of Vacation Agent and Agent@Home magazines. They get visible coverage on TravelPulse.com, including selected video interviews with major award winners. All Travvy Award winners also receive the coveted Travvy statuette that recognizes their achievement. Finally, a special awards gala was recently held in January to honor award winners and celebrate the travel industry as a whole.
