On Thursday October 15th, Mexican first lady Angélica Rivera, attended the opening ceremony of the International Day against Breast Cancer.
Shortly before noon, Angélica Rivera arrived to the city of San Francisco de Campeche, and immediately was taken to the National Centre of Oncology, where she toured the facility accompanied by the state governor Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, his wife, Christelle Castañón; the general director of the National System DIF, Laura Vargas; Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Pablo Kuri Morales; Secretary of Health of Campeche, Alvaro Arceo Ortiz, and the director of the National Centre of Oncology, Nicolás Briceño Ancona..
At the end of the tour, Mrs. Rivera Peña greeted several patients and then delivered medical “kits” to people who had a mastectomy performed.
“I am visiting the states of the Republic as I promised all of you, to listen to all your testimonies and support you.”
“This center is one of the best in Mexico, it has an important infrastructure of specialists with the latest technology to deliver the best treatments. I want to thank all of you brave Mexican women for your testimony of life. The best gift we can give to our loved ones is to be healthy, ” Rivera said during a brief press conference.
At the end of the tour through the National Centre of Oncology, the first lady presented a donation to several patients.
The donation included 50 breast prostheses, 60 wheelchairs, 30 vouchers for surgeries with implants, 30 for reconstructive surgeries and ultrasound equipment for the hospital.
