CHETUMAL — In his fourth year report, the Governor of Quintana Roo, Roberto Borge Angulo, said that in the next few days he will send a proposal to the State Congress for the creation of the State’s eleventh municipality, to bear the name of Puerto Morelos

“Soon I’ll send the initiative to the State Congress for the creation of the municipality of Puerto Morelos,” that will join Cozumel, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Isla Mujeres, Othón P. Blanco, Benito Juárez, José María Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Solidaridad, Tulum and Bacalar.

In his political message, the governor said that after a year of consultations, he devised a plan to create the 11th municipality of Quintana Roo.

In Chetumal’s Convention Center, the State Governor also spoke of succession in government, since next year Quintana Roo will hold elections for governor, local Congress and 10 city councils.

In this regard, he called on political parties to act with legality, to be open to debate and to “get away from diatribes and rant.”

During his speech that lasted for nearly two hours, Borge Angulo noted that Quintana Roo has positioned itself as the main destination in Latin America and the Caribbean to account for 50% of revenues of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Mexico.

He even said that lower seasons in his state are over as far as tourism is concerned.
