President of Colombia on Official Visit to Mexico

The Mexican president was recognized as a friend of the Colombians.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto received his visiting Colombian colleague Juan Manuel Santos Calderón with high hopes for the strategic partnership of both countries and an everlasting peace in the South-American nation.

Troops of the Army, Air Force and Navy paraded before the presidents, their entourages and wives, Angélica Rivera and María Clemencia Rodríguez.

Peña Nieto acknowledged the leadership and vision of Colombia and hope that the peace dialog in the country will come to fruition and bring a lasting peace.

We Mexicans recognize your valuable contributions to the dialog, the understanding and collaboration between our nations. In a special way, we recognize your leadership and vision to promote the development of Colombia,” expressed Peña Nieto.

The Mexican President also stressed the importance to have his Colombian colleague visiting the country and recalled that the South American nation was the first one he visited as head of state.

Later, the Ministers of National Defense, Salvador Cienfuegos, and Navy, Vidal Soberón, presented Santos Calderón with the decorations to the Military Merit and Naval Distinction.

Afterwards, the president of Colombia thanked the ministers and said that his Mexican colleague has been a great friend of his nation.

Peña Nieto and Santos Calderón will meet at Los Pinos, where they will be witnesses to the signing of bilateral agreements and will unveil a memorandum of understanding in the field of security and defense.
