Mexico is expecting to receive 500,000 Russian Tourists Annually

Mexico is hoping to receive 500,000 Russian tourists annually in four to five years, Ambassador of Mexico to Russia Ruben Beltran Guerrero told Sputinik News’ reporter RIA Novosti.

We are looking forward to welcome a great number of Russian tourists. This year we are expecting to receive some 27 million foreign tourists and we are interested in having half a million tourists from Russia in four to five years,” the diplomat said.

Beltran noted that Mexico plans to invest $14 billion in the development of tourism and infrastructure and transport projects.

The country has it all, from the beautiful beaches, delicious food that is completely different in different regions of the country to the cultural and archaeological monuments,” the senior diplomat said about Mexico’s strength as a tourist destination.

The inflow of Russian tourists to Mexico increased from 6,500 in 2006 to 108,000 in 2013.

The Mexican Ambassador said that Mexico is expecting to receive some 27 million foreign tourists and Mexican authorities are interested in having half a million tourists from Russia in four to five years.

We are also planning to construct a new modern airport in Mexico [city] the passenger capacity of which will increase from 40 million passengers to 150 million per year,” Beltran concluded.
